Library History

Due to the policy of Thammasat University, which aims to expand graduate level education to regional areas, Thammasat University Pattaya was established on February 1, 2005. The university offers programs in Community Development, Social Sciences, and Political Science. The push for education in the region was supported by the Chonburi Provincial Administration Organization. In order to support the educational efforts, a library was established on June 1, 2006, to serve as an important source of knowledge for faculty, students, and staff.

A database is a source of information resources that the library places importance on providing services to support teaching and research at the university. With a change in the policy for managing information resources of the library that focuses on being a Digital Library, there has been an increased acceptance of online databases. WORLDCAT & WORLDSHARE ILL:  Global library resource search system

The OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) network is the largest international library network in the world, and it provides a system for searching for information resources in library collections. Users can search and borrow books from libraries within the OCLC network worldwide.

TUIDX: Search system for journals and articles

The library provides a search engine for academic articles. Students can search for the desired articles and take note of the publication details to borrow the print version from the library staff. In the case of electronic articles, students can access the full document immediately.

RENEWING SERVICE

Members are allowed to borrow books by themselves without any limit on the number of times, provided that the item is not reserved. However, the outstanding fine must not exceed 3,000 baht.

HOLDING SERVICE

Members are able to reserve books themselves if the system shows the status of the book as checked out.

E-MAIL NOTIFICATIONS SERVICE

Members will receive a notification via email before the due date, and can set the notification date themselves in order to borrow or return items on time without incurring fines.

Precautions before requesting service

  1. This service is for students, professors, staff of Thammasat University, members, and staff of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA).
  2. To borrow books between Tha Phra Chan and Rangsit Center, please submit a request before 10:00 am. The books can be received on the same day at 2:30 pm. If the request is submitted after 10:00 am, the books will be available at 2:30 pm on the next working day (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays). For the Lampang Center, Pattaya Center, and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), the books will be available within 7 working days.

  3. Each member may borrow books according to their respective privileges as follows:

    Professors, researchers, and librarians can borrow up to 60 books/semester.
    - Students with higher education degrees can borrow up to 40 books/15 days.
    - Undergraduate students can borrow up to 20 books/15 days.
    - Government officials, employees, and workers can borrow up to 20 books/15 days.
    - Members of the public can borrow up to 5 books/15 days (foreign language books limited to 2)

  4. The books requested for Book Delivery service at the library will be kept for 7 days. If not collected within the specified time, the library will proceed to return the book to the next owner.
